Accutane
Accutane (isotretinoin) is prescribed for patients suffering from severe nodular acne. Accutane is prescribed after the patient has failed to achieve any significant results using other remedies. This drug can be very dangerous if used by pregnant or breastfeeding women. Accutane has been reported to cause serious, often life-threatening effects in babies whose mothers took it during their pregnancy. You will need to use at least two forms of birth control while on Accutane to make sure you do not get pregnant. Serious side effects possible when Accutane is used are supposed to be reported to your doctor as soon as possible. They include: dangerous thoughts, aggression, sadness, sleeping more than usual, difficulty concentrating, irritability, anxiety, lack of energy, anger, weight changes, suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, and appetite changes. Less serious side effects are also possible. The following ones are sometimes reported: dizziness, stomach pain, headache, vomiting, severely chapped lips, flushing, and loss of coordination. Accutane is not supposed to be combined with medications for seizures, oral steroids, tetracycline antibiotics, or vitamin A supplements, as drug interactions are possible.
